Something a little controversial….. we were just trawling through some old favourite Youtube clips trying to find some cool old dance moves to release on the dance floor for this coming weekend, when we stumbled upon this old clip.
A tap dance routine by Bill Bailey at the Apollo Theatre in New York in 1955 where at the end he busts out the Moonwalk!!!! A move made famous by Michael Jackson!
For those that don’t want to enjoy the whole clip you can see Bill pull out the move from around the 2 minute mark. This one blew our minds! We were well aware MJ had borrowed the move and made it famous, BUT, we weren’t prepared to see the move done in a movie such a long time prior.
Then to add to the confusion, we also came across hints of the moonwalk in a clip from a 1941 movie with Connee Boswell and Eddie “Rochester” Anderson titled: Kiss the Boys Goodbye…. in the song “Sand in My Shoes”
